Expected Game Points and Role Reversal (double reversal)

Martin Tompa

The least clear case of these double role reversals is the possibility that K is the remaining face-down card in the stock. This is the position Emmi would visualize from your point of view:

Unseen cards:
AQ
KJ
♣ —
AK

Your cards:
K

♣ AQ
TQ

Trump: Q
Stock: 1 face-down card
Trick points: Emmi 20, You 31
Lead: T

From your point of view, almost any lead looks as hopeless as T does. The best way for you to avoid losing 2 game points would be to lead a club and hope that J is in the stock.
